It's Getting Closer!

The other night I talked to her mother.  She was as sweet as sweet could be, but I was still nervous---of course the No. 1 Son didn't inform me that she might be calling.  And being from the South, I thought the MOG was supposed to make the first contact with the MOB.  She is originally from India and had heard she was supposed to call me, as is the custom in India.  I was waiting until it was official, but she was so excited that she didn't want to wait.  How great was that, that she was so excited that her daughter is marrying my son?! Tears of Joy!

The Ring

They bought their rings!!!!! They won't be ready until a couple of weeks so I am still playing "the Waiting Game" about telling people. I have made The Baby's (dog) dress (my niece told me how to make it )and pearl necklace for the fun engagement period.  As soon as I am given the "go ahead", she will help me announce to my friends about the wedding.

One reaction I wasn't expecting was that of sorrow. It is the end of an era. Our family will never be the same again. We are so excited about our Bride and more and more realize how perfect they are for one another. I have wanted this for him for quite a while so this sadness is foreign to how I had always pictured things. I realize it won't last long so I am giving in to it momentarily before all the official planning begins.

No. 1 Son

He called the other day to say he was going to ask her to marry him!  Hurray!

From the time he was born, I have been planning his rehearsal dinner! Yes, it's crazy, but I love a good party, complete with party favors!  Of course, plans have changed as he has.  I wanted a very formal, very elegant party since I didn't have a girl and couldn't plan a wedding. But now, since I have a second son and a daughter, I am willing to loosen up and have what he would enjoy, which is a low country boil.

The No. 1 Son didn't let us know he was even dating for several months.  Not surprising.  He's known her for 6 years but we had never even heard her name mentioned.  Not surprising.  But when he finally introduced her to us, we fell immediately in love with her and have been crossing our fingers that they would decide to marry.  The other day he called to say just that!  We are thrilled, excited and can hardly wait to start enjoying this process!
